Some more gory details of the mortgage mess. Looks like a distinct possibility that the mortgage securitization might not hold legal muster. This opens the door of home owners to be able to sell their homes before having to pay the mortgage holder! Explosive stuff. A must read article.

Informative piece about Foreclosure Freezes at major banks across US. In short, the Banks are in some cases unable to provide proof that they own the mortgages. Due the multiple resales, and mortgage securitization, the paperwork transferring the ownership of mortgages did not make it through from the sellers of mortgage loans to the buyers. [...]

This is a scary thought. I hope saner minds prevail, and the world leaders do better than our political leaders who cannot think beyond whether they get to save their ‘seat’ in the Congress. It is time that politicians showed some statesmanship,, both, locally as well as world leaders.

World leaders must defuse currency tensions before they worsen [...]

Futures have been positive all morning following gains across most foreign markets. After the beating last week with nearly five percent loses, we could see a relief rally. Whether the relief rally amounts anything meaningful we will find out by the end of the week.

  • The Jobs Report came out better than expected. The market was bracing for losses in private sector jobs. However, the private sector added 83,000  jobs. In addition, the unemployment rate dropped to 9.5 percent from 9.7 percent. This is the best economic news that we have seen for over couple weeks. Futures are slightly lower. On this better than expected [...]

  • We are now below the key 1040 support level on S&P 500 on a closing basis. Additionally, S&P 500′s 200 day moving average turned negative. It is takes a lot of sustained selling to turn a 200 day moving average to turn down. Not good a news for the bulls. Weekly Jobless claims increased for last week [...]

After a big down day like yesterday, it is normal to see a relief rally. Futures started modestly higher, but are mildly negative after ADP Private sector jobs came in weaker than expected.

Still watching to see if we break through and close below 1040 on S&P.

    S&P 500 is testing the May 6, 2010 Flash Crash low of 1065.79. Friday’s low was 1069.89.

If get a rally from here that takes up past 1131.23, the highs from the previous rally, we would have an uptrend.

Let us see if we get there.

Futures are negative across the board as fears continue about the economic recovery. We could see Fridays lows challenged today. Continuing to watch PL, GDI, SLH, and TCB. PL and SLH were up nicely yesterday on above average volume. GDI and TCB were down but on lower volume. GDI is being added to S&P 500 [...]

As an iPhone owner for over three years, I can attest to the fact that it is not the best phone there is. Apple has done many things right with the iPhone, but the main application is the phone as the name suggests. And it sucks as a phone. Looks like they have not done much [...]

Futures mildly bullish, after closing nearly flat on Friday. Last week we saw some negative economic news, and broke support. Let us see where we close by end of this week.

Four stocks that have potential to go up between 10 and 20 percent — PL, GDI, SLH, and TCB. Bullish action on Thursday and Friday that defied the overall market direction. These are small cap stocks with decent volume.

Revised GDP growth for Quarter 1 is 2.7 percent. While not as hot as what was expected, it is still a healthy growth by historical standards. The one naggingly stubborn statistic that is worrying the market is unemployment level — over 9.7 for the entire 2010. Read the full news item at CNBC.

This week underscores the fact that there are no gaurantees in stock trading. Till Tuesday, we were expecting S&P 500 to go all way to 1165-1175. The KEYWORD is EXPECTING. We stcok traders constantly deal with uncertainities, and have to make provision for the unexpected, indeed sometimes, the unexpectable, too.

Btw, the markets are down today with S&P 500 testing the 1080 support level.

  • admin posted an update:   1 year, 8 months ago · View

Futures under pressure today again. Yesterday was a very volatile day ending slightly lower on S&P 500, while DOW closed up just 4 points. We broke through support at 1105-1100 range on S&P 500. We need to regain that level for us to become bullish again. Right now it is wait and see, with a slight negative bias.

Economic news has been bad, but market reaction has not been as bad. This is the only silverlining for the bulls.

ThumbnailS&P 500 successfully tested the neck-line of the double bottom. Million dollar question is, will it hold today? Support and resistance levels are important because once they are breached, they change polarity. What was support becomes resistance, and vice-versa. Having broken through the 1105 resistance level on S&P 500, the 1105 level became support. Yesterday, and today, we [...]
